(now closed) World Wide Character Counts Week – GIVEAWAY

2012 World Wide Character Counts Week: October 21-27.

Did you know: In 1992 Six Pillars of Character were identified by an esteemed group of leading ethicists, educators and youth service professionals. These “universal core values” transcend religious, political and socioeconomic differences. The Six Pillars of Character are: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

The seed of World Wide Character Counts Week: On October 19 2009 Senator Chris Dodd stood before the senate and said: “We know that in order to face our challenges as communities and as a Nation, we need our children to be both well‐educated and trained‐‐and that begins with instilling character in our children.” Senator Dodd continued: “Character education programs work. Currently, there are character education programs across all 50 States in rural, urban and suburban areas at every grade level. Schools across the country that have adopted strong character education programs report better student performance, fewer discipline problems, and increased student involvement within the community.”
