Love the article. My kinder kids already have spring fever and this article is a great refresher to help me keep them motivated. Love the brag tags as well. I would love to win the perfect attendance set as my school is always looking fr ways to get our kids to school.

I follow your blog and like your FB page!!! I would love to get a set of brag tags for my “lunch bunchers” (If they turn in their weekly homework on time, we get to eat lunch together in the classroom!) This has become a huge event in my classroom!
If I win these Brag Tags, I would make them for the month of March and have it say “March Lunch Buncher!”. I would give it to the kiddos that brought their homework in for the month of March!!
I hope I win! These would be a great addition to the brag tags that we already use in my classroom!! 🙂

I always read a St. Patrick’s Day themed book, it could be The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day by Natasha Wing or It’s St. Patrick’s Day by Rebecca Gomez. Because I read aloud to the whole first-grade quad, I would have my fellow colleagues observe and choose 20 students who were “caught being good” while I was reading the story to them.
For the other 20 Brag Tags, I usually email a literature based question to the K-2 teachers and a geography based question to the 3-5 teachers in the beginning of the week. The questions for the week would coincide with the St. Patrick’s Day theme. Teachers present the questions to the students and the students write the answers on a scratch sheet of paper (go green). On Friday, I go through the entries and randomly select 10 winners among the correct responses from each category. I usually give pencils or erases, but these would make great prizes! They would get The Lucky Charm Award!

In March we do a big St. Patrick’s day unit and part of it is a homework project where they try to design a leprechaun trap! My students have to use common household materials and disguise them to make a trap for the leprechaun who plays havoc in our classroom! Since leprechauns always do the opposite of what you tell them to do, they also have to make creative signs like “Don’t push this button” or “Stay away from this string!”. They think it’s hilarious of course! They also have to write about what they would do if they actually caught the leprechaun – how would they spend his gold, would they let him go or keep him etc. In the end of course, the leprechaun will be too wily for our traps but he’ll leave us a consolation prize of a pot of fake gold and green beads with a rainbow of cupcakes!
I actually just ordered some shamrock shaped Brag Tags for my classroom, and they read “I Tried to Catch a Leprechaun!” and these will be given to every student who turns in a completed project! I can’t wait to get them in the mail, they shipped yesterday!!
My husband is making me a display board for my tag necklaces, when I post it on my blog I’ll come back and let you see it!!

I just found out about these today and placed an order! I love these and I have not even seen them yet!! I should have let you know that I found out about them from a blog called What The Teacher Wants…. she did a super post that you replied to. I gave up facebook for lent so I cannot enter… but I am SO EXCITED to receive my order. I plan to use these in my classroom to celebrate my 4th graders last 10 weeks in elementary school. I think they make a fabulous memory for them.

I am totally intrigued by this idea. I haven’t ever used Brag Tags, but am always looking for innovative ways to encourage my kids to read.
If I win these Brag Tags I would have a message about the MS Read-a-thon because I am running it at our school this year. Kids would be so inspired to participate!

In my first grade class, a leprechaun will visit each day of the week and leave a little surprise. A book, an activity, a treat, a….brag tag! My students write a letter each day in response to the leprechaun’s visit. The leprechaun writes back, in green ink, of course. These tags would be the perfect addition to the festivities!

Well, when the Mischievous Leprechauns come visiting for St. Patrick’s Day, bringing all kinds of fun and chaos…… it would be a wonderful touch for them to leave a specially selected Brag Tag on each child’s desk! I love the idea. Thank you for the opportunity to enter your contest!

While we are away from our classroom, a leprechaun visits our room. The leprechaun makes a mess and leaves us a note, treats and a book (The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day). Then I read the note and book to my students. This year I think we will write about how we would catch a leprechaun.

Our class just won the school-wide competition for the most AR points from Feb. 1 to Mar. 2! These would be an awesome reward! I plan to budget these in for next year!!
